In This Together

Hello family, friends, and visitors from afar. As I mentioned yesterday, I just rebooted my blog and my plan is to post more often.

So much has happened in the world and in my life personally, where to begin?

Around the World

This year has been fraught with challenges, the biggest being a Pandemic, COVID-19, which has forced a lot of places around the World to close their doors in an effort to slow down the spread. Everyone is being asked to shelter in place, wear a face mask when in public, stay 6 feet apart, wash hands often, don't touch our faces, and wear gloves. As of today, the infections and deaths are as follows:

United States:
Confirmed cases - 2.74M / Confirmed deaths: 130K

Worldwide
Confirmed cases - 10.7M Confirmed Deaths: 515K

Current U.S. Unemployment rate: 13.3%

As of today, we are still only beginning the second phase of the first wave, as it stands, with its current rate of infection, it is estimated that we could see approximately 100K new infections per day. However, the scariest part is not the pandemic, it is how many people are not taking it seriously. Some believing it's a hoax, while others believe that some people (the elderly) are expendable.

My heart aches.

Around My Being

Personally, this pandemic has affected me; just as things were beginning to close my husband got sick and needed to be hospitalized. I was unable to see him after they closed the ambulance door. There were no visitors allowed in the E.R. or in the hospital. It was during this time I was furloughed from my job for 90 days, and even as I type this message, I am unsure as to whether or not the company can afford to bring me back.

I hope that I can return to work; I absolutely love my job and the people that I work with are great.

Also, my daughter spent her 18th birthday in the house and graduated from H.S. in the house. We've begun ordering all of our groceries, and since my husband is an essential worker and works 5-days a week, we have to social distance ourselves at home too. I have health issues that could be life-threatening if I catch this illness, so I can't take any chances.

Most social interactions these days are via Zoom, including church attendance. The only living beings I've actually been less than 6 feet from, in the past nearly 90 days, are my cat and my daughter.

This situation has not been easy; I've dealt with some depression, some overwhelm, some loneliness and because I'm a workaholic, I've dealt with some intense boredom.

Recently, I began clearing out some of the clutter, going through boxes I haven't opened in years just to combat the boredom. I updated and overhauled both my personal and business websites. I also started writing again. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

Before the Pandemic

There were some updates that occurred before the pandemic; I was doing keto for almost 2 years, and lost about 50 lbs., though I did fall off of the wagon for the past 2 months. I got back on the wagon almost 2-weeks ago.

I signed on a new web design client. I'd gotten a raise at work. Vid got a job and has been working for more than 18 months. He loves his job.

I know that there is so much more to report, but this is the gist of it all, and going forward I will try to focus on the now.

Peace with you all.
